Understanding Eye Tests

I remembered when I visited the optometrist during my younger days. My emotions were one of sorrow, as my brother, who was already wearing prescriptive glasses at that time, said that there was nothing cool about wearing glasses. It would bring me a lifetime of inconveniences, a common one is the fogging of the lens when drinking hot soup, and the need to wear rubber straps during vigorous sports. This is not to mention the ever increasing prices of eye wear.

The most common test was conducted by the optometrist on me. It was the refraction test, which was to determine the focal point and length of my natural eyes. The old method was to use various lenses of increasing strengths on my eyes to test my visual acuity. Once I can read words in a distance clearly, the optometrist can then prescribe the right glasses for me. With advances in technology, there’s now a machine that can auto detect the refraction of my natural lens for quick prescription of the right lenses.

The other common tests run by reputable optometrists are the cover test and the slit lamp test. The cover test seeks to understand how well your two eyes can work together. The slit lamp test is able to see in greater detail the various parts of your eyes. The images of parts of your eyes are magnified for the optometrists’ detailed examination. A good optometrist will always run some additional test to be sure that your eye problem is a simple refractive one that can be corrected with prescriptive eye wear.

The best advice is still to get rid of your glasses, and seek to regain your natural perfect eye sight. I have thrown away my glasses several years back, and was thankful that I am saved from a lifetime of eye wear inconveniences and costs.

I now have perfect vision in my right eye, and near perfect in my left. I have searched for natural ways to improve my vision, and have found one that actually works for me. Do check out the scientifically proven, natural and easy way to improve your vision, without burning a hole in your pocket.
